Pluck is a D)oor program that lets you extract a single file from
an archived file or a collection of single files from an archived
file. After they are extracted, they can be reachived for
downloading. No more do you have to download a complete arced
file just to get one single file out of it. The file created by
this program is called PLUCK.ARC or PLUCK.PAK (depending on which
archival method you select).
MAIN COMMANDS
1. or 4. View the contents of an archived file. This lets you see
the files that are in the archived file you choose to
View. You will be prompted for the file name of the
archive.
2. or 5. Pluck a single or multiple set of files from an archive
for rearchiving and downloading. You will first be
prompted for the name of the archive you wish to extract
files from. Then you will be prompted for the name of
the file you wish extracted. This may be a single file
or you can use wild cards for more than one file. (
*.DOC ) will extract all the DOC files from the archive.
3. or 6. Archive the extracted file(s) for downloading when you
return to RBBS. This will make a file called PLUCK.ARC
or PLUCK.PAK (depending which type of archiving routine
you choose) which will contain all the files that you
extracted for downloading. You will have to leave this
program and enter RBBS's download section in order to
download PLUCK.ARC or PLUCK.PAK.
7. This option will present you with a list of all files
offered on this BBS.
8. This option will list the names of all files that you
have Plucked within this session.
9. This option will enable you to view a text file that you
have Plucked.
(F) This option (if available by the SysOp) will allow you
to do a search of all .ARC files for the location of a
single file of your choice. If the Board has a large
quantity of .ARC files, then this option may take some
time.
(H) The instructions --- where you are now.
(Q) Return to RBBS, leaving this program. Don't forget to
archive the files you extracted before you leave or you
will have to start all over when re-entering PLUCK.
